So the bridges of Madison county are real, and they are about 20 minutes southwest of Des Moines, and yet I had never been there. As Mark's parents and I were trying to figure out a little day trip, Mark's mom mentioned she would like to go see the covered bridges. So we had a little road trip.
I can't imagine how loud it would have been to driver your wagon's across these, they echoed so loudly.
And of course along the way is the John Wayne birthplace museum.
This van was donated to the museum - it has a $50,000 mural all over it. It's the A-team meets the Duke! Words fail me.
We also stopped at this old school house, it was in use from the 1880's until the 1940's. It was a cute little place.
