Little Man Turns 9

Mason had his 9th birthday a couple of weeks ago! We celebrated as a family with dinner at Panera, dessert from Cheesecake Factory, presents, and a trip to Mason's favorite park! It was a great time together as a family.
Mason is a great kid! He is really developing a sense of humor (and uses sarcarsm quite well too). It is so much fun to really have conversations with your kids. He loves music and is an amazing piano player. I am in awe of his natural talent.
I know that Mason loves his brothers and watches out for them. He is so good with Easton and helps me out a lot with Easton. It has been a joy to watch Mason hold and protect his little baby brother.

Happy Birthday Easton!

Easton McKay was born last night, February 21, at 11:38 PM. He weighed in at 8 lbs. and 4 ozs. and was 20 3/4 inches. Mom and baby are both doing very well and will probably be coming home on Monday.

Out there!

So for those who have asked, I have delayed in posting any pictures of this sort. My good friend just posted a picture of herself at 35 weeks, so I have been given the courage to post this one. So here I am at 37 weeks. And yes, dropped is an understatement. Ugh!

Happy 4th B-Day!

Drew had his fourth Birthday last Friday! We went swimming at the YMCA, had dinner at Red Robin because they have the best mac n' cheese, and then came home to open presents and eat cake.
I want him to know just how much we love him. Drew, I love that you give me all kinds of kisses for no reason (Eskimo, Butterfly, and now the baby tummy kiss). I thank you for going shopping, to girls lunches, doctor appointments, etc. and not complaining and keeping me company. I love that you love to hum (all the time, even in the bathroom) Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Christmas music. I love that you ask me for a cuddle just whenever, ask for me to play with your toesies, stick your tongue out when you're concentrating, and always wanting to be read to. And the big question you're always asking, "Soooo, what should we do now?" Happy Birthday little man!

Where has the month gone?

I realize I haven't been a very good blogger lately. I have been waiting until I have some pictures to share, but the camera hasn't made it's way out of the case in a couple of weeks. So I thought I'd just journal a bit. The last few weeks have been filled with taking a child here, taking a child there, that sort of thing. As the time for our new arrival nears, it sometimes feels like the days are just inching along. I have been doing some of those nesting things, but typically I can only handle so many cleaning projects a day. We are all very excited to welcome a new little Hamilton into our home. The boys talk a lot about the baby and all the helping they are going to do. I think this will be a much different experience than last time I had a baby. When Drew was born I had a four year old and two year old. Now the kids are older, they get it, they really feel excited to help and be a part of this childs daily doings. I look forward to seeing their interactions and the bonds being built.

Stories to Share

I wanted a little space to share funny everyday happenings. So this is it ---

Dec. 3, '11 -- John Deere Water Chile had invited the John Deere Financial Chile employees and families to join them for their Holiday celebration. We traveled to the event which was about a 45 minute drive to a place we had never been to before. We took several detours prior to arriving and it was this day that Easton began to say "RECALCULATING". Sounds funny come from him instead of from Hailey, which is the name of the female voice on the GPS.

Nov. 14, '11 -- After arriving in Santiago and a long flight on Sunday, we were trying to get settled in our new home. We went to the grocery store to get the necessities and upon our return Easton declared the following. "I am not getting out of the car. this is not my house."

Sep. 21, '08 -- Then tonight we sat down and Mason announced that Mark needed to be president so that he could get all the candy he wanted for free. Priorities, priorities, priorities.

Aug. 12, '08 -- Yesterday I was doing laundry, seperating the clothes, and as I was checking pockets I pulled out a little stone from Drew's pants. This is one of my favorite things to pull out of my kids pants. I am always amazed and awed by my children. They find happiness in the things that I pass by everyday and fail to notice. The little things in life count and as I pull those rocks out of my kids pockets I am reminded just how much joy there is to find in this life. Thank you to my children and the inspiration they give me!

Jun. 19, '08 -- So I was upstairs and I heard Dallin and Drew go out into the garage. I went out there and they were playing in the car. I told them to get out and come inside. I then proceeded to tell them that the car was not a toy and to not go out there and play. Dallin looks at me and says, " Mom, it's a "TOY"ota Sienna, with a huge emphasis on the toy part. Really, a six year old should not be able to come up with that kind of comeback. I just laughed....

You had to have seen the Disney movie Cars to really appreciate this. So I'm running into the grocery store with the kids and as I am about to go inside Dallin and Drew stop and start pointing to something, while jumping up and down, laughing, and screaming "Fred! Mom it's Fred! Fred!" A couple of seconds later this large Ford Bronco that obviously weathered MANY Iowa winters and salt on the roads drives by. It is rusted all over, the place above the wheels no longer exists due to all the rust eating it away. The men in the Bronco had their windows down and just waved at the boys. I'm not sure they had any idea why my kids were so excited to see their car. I just laughed out loud! (Fred happens to be an extremely rusty car that is one of the main character's fans)
